FMC Summer Plot Tours Feature New Herbicides

Philadelphia – After a summer of successful plot tours highlighting in-field results of Anthem™ and Anthem™ ATZ herbicides, FMC Corporation expects EPA approval on its two new herbicides in 2012. Other products highlighted included Authority® and Cadet® herbicides as well as Hero® and Capture® LFR® insecticides.

"We are excited for the launch of Anthem and Anthem ATZ," said Paul Redhage, FMC strategic communications manager. "These summer test plots provided strong in-field results on the efficacy of these herbicides. Anthem and Anthem ATZ will set a new standard for broad-spectrum long lasting weed control in corn, providing growers outstanding convenience and application flexibility when they need it most."

Anthem herbicide is a dual mode of action preplant, preemergence and early post herbicide for use in corn. Anthem ATZ herbicide is a pre and early post application for corn that contains three modes of action for broader spectrum residual and postemergence control while managing weed resistant issues. In-field results for Anthem and Anthem ATZ demonstrated superior preemergence activity and residual control of many key grasses and broadleaf weeds. In addition, the herbicides revealed exceptional post-contact activity on several key broadleaf weeds, including velvetleaf, lambsquarters, waterhemp, pigweed and other Amaranthus species. Test plots also confirmed the excellent crop safety of these two new herbicides.

"Test plots hosted in various soil types and geographical areas allowed FMC to gather additional research data, examine the efficacy and further develop our crop protection products," said Bob Hooten, technical support manager for FMC Agricultural Products. "These plot tours were invaluable as they allowed retailers to see firsthand the superior performance of what FMC has to offer, share results and discuss crop protection benefits and best practices."

During the 2011 growing season, the technical support and product development groups at FMC Corporation established more than 50 demonstration plots to study the performance and efficacy of Anthem, Anthem ATZ, the Authority herbicide product line and Cadet. Over 350 retailers, distributors and FMC team members attended the FMC plot tour events, which were scheduled from July 11-15 along the corn belt.
