The Minute by FMC Features National Corn Growers Association Members

PHILADELPHIA – May 27, 2014 – From governmental affairs and international trade to working with growers at a local level, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is working hard to be a voice for corn growers. NCGA Board President Martin Barbre talked with The Minute Host Jake Turner about their focus to create and increase opportunities for corn growers. The episode is online at

“We are pleased with the way the Farm Bill came out. The agriculture risk coverage program is going to be great,” said Barbre in the episode. “We’re going to try and get out as much information as we can to our growers so they can understand the program.”

Episode filming took place during the 2014 Commodity Classic in San Antonio. In addition to discussion about the passing of the Farm Bill, Barbre talked about renewable fuel standards and the Water Resources Development Act. Barbre also touched on the importance of getting involved from a local level.

“Many of our state associations are very active, that’s really the place to go to get involved,” said Barbre. “Our states are always looking for volunteers. They have leadership development programs and county associations, so that’s the place to get started. From there, the sky’s the limit.”

The Minute by FMC features Host Jake Turner as he travels through corn and soybean country talking with experts about pest management and other important issues that affect yield.
