Introducing Beleaf® Insecticide to Pecan Market - Unique Mode of Action from FMC Stops Aphid feeding in 30 Minutes

PHILADELPHIA – April 3, 2014 – Pecan growers have a new resistance management option to control aphids while preserving beneficial species to protect harvest quantity and quality. Beleaf® insecticide from FMC Agricultural Solutions, now registered for use on pecans, features a unique mode of action to stop aphid feeding within 30 minutes.

Key Benefits

• The only group 9C chemistry designated by the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC), Beleaf is soft on beneficials but has no known cross-resistance for targeted pests.

• Once applied, Beleaf goes to work on contact, stopping yellow, black and blackmargined aphids feeding within 30 minutes. It then moves inside the leaf, providing up to 21 days of weather stable control during the critical midsummer period.

• The reentry interval for Beleaf is just 12 hours after application.

• Cory Bromley, FMC Agricultural Solutions North America segment manager stated that, “Longterm pest management is about controlling the major threats, preserving your natural control partners and managing resistance. Beleaf combines these advantages into a product that pecan growers can easily integrate into their aphid control strategy.”

• “Physical damage and disease exposure are the immediate threats of aphid pressure, but repeat exposure to just one or two classes of actives raises the risk of resistance with every application. Beleaf offers a unique mode of action to quickly stop feeding and protect yields, because a diversified management strategy is what keeps growers in control season after season.”
