FMC Authority Minute Explores Yield Monitor Calibration

PHILADELPHIA – September 17, 2013 – In the acre-by-acre environment of modern agriculture, quality yield data can be the difference between managing a showcase crop and wasting expensive input resources. Authority Minute Host Jake Turner recently spoke with Ben Prusa, precision ag manager for CENTROL Crop Consulting in Marshall, Minn., to learn how growers can avoid getting the wrong picture of their farms’ potential. The episode is available now at

“Yield monitor calibration is the most important step in collecting accurate yield data,” said Prusa. “Being prepared is the only way to avoid losing time and valuable data when combine wheels start rolling.”

Accurate yield data is crucial to approximate bushels for market, determine inputs and validate crop insurance claims. A precision agriculture expert with yield calibration and data analysis experience, Prusa shared the steps for proper yield calibration as well as helpful tips to maintain accurate bushels per acre and moisture figures throughout the season.

Authority Minute by FMC features Host Jake Turner as he travels the country talking with authorities about best practices and weed control in soybeans.
