FMC Announces Expanded Label for Zeus® Herbicide

PHILADELPHIA – FMC Corporation announces a label expansion for Zeus® herbicide to include flax, strawberries and transplanted tomatoes. The newly expanded label provides California growers with a powerful preemergence herbicide to control sedges, annual grasses and broadleaf weeds, including lambsquarters, nightshade, pigweed and shepherd’s purse.

“The expanded label provides California growers with a timely solution to combat weeds in the winter strawberry crop,” said FMC Senior Product Manager Rick Ekins. “Zeus provides long residual for less weed drain and clean fields. Plus, Zeus prevents the high-cost of hand weeding.”

Zeus can be applied preemergence prior to transplanting on strawberries and as a broadcast or banded treatment prior to transplanting tomatoes. It can also be applied to flax crops prior to planting and any time after planting, but before seedlings have emerged. Zeus has low volatility and will not damage adjacent crops.

Zeus herbicide is also approved for asparagus, transplanted cabbage and sunflowers. Further label expansions are under development that will extend the use of Zeus into the California tree nut and vine crops.
