Feb 27, 2009 FMC Makes Final 2008 Donation in the “Be a Hero, Support a Hero” Promotion

Philadelphia, November 13, 2008 — More than 1,400 American farmers, crop consultants and agricultural retailers made a difference in the lives of U.S. servicemen and women stationed overseas, with the 2008 “Be A Hero, Support A Hero” program from FMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC).

Throughout 2008, FMC has continued its support of the United Service Organization’s (USO) Operation Care Package initiative as part of the company’s ongoing “Be A Hero, Support A Hero” promotion. A $5 donation has been made for each individual who completed the “State of the Industry” survey at various tradeshows and grower events throughout 2008.

The “State of the Industry” survey is designed to identify trends and top of mind issues among specific audiences within the agribusiness market segment, including growers, consultants, journalists, agricultural retailers, industry thought leaders and university researchers. Individuals can complete the survey by clicking through a few short questions focused on production trends, market shifts, etc.

FMC will make its fifth and final donation for calendar year 2008, on behalf of the 330 participants who completed the “State of the Industry” survey at the annual meeting of the California Association of Professional Crop Advisors (CAPCA), held October 19 – 21 in Anaheim, California. FMC will donate $1,650 to Operation USO Care Package to send 66 care packages overseas.

“In its inaugural year, the ‘Be A Hero, Support A Hero’ initiative received tremendous support and interest from American farmers,” says Paul Redhage, Communications Manager for FMC. “We wanted to continue our support for this terrific program, and find ways to allow others in agribusiness to participate as well. FMC is proud to partner with the many growers, retailers, business leaders and others who participate in this program as a simple and easy way of showing their deep patriotism for our country.”

Operation USO Care Package allows individuals to express their support for the service and sacrifice of the U.S. Armed Forces by sponsoring a care package, which includes a personal message and items such as calling cards, sunscreen, toiletries and disposable cameras. More than one million care packages have been distributed to service personnel stationed overseas since the inception of Operation USO Care Package in 2001. Today, the USO distributes nearly 25,000 packages per month to troops around the world.

Last year, FMC donated $4,210 to Operation Care Package through the “Be A Hero, Support A Hero” program, sending 168 care packages to members of the U.S. armed forces overseas. This year, after the completion of all five of its major tradeshows, FMC has donated a total of $7,385 (equivalent to 296 care packages), exceeding the 2007 total program donation by more than $3,000, as shown in Figure 1. A total of 1,477 individuals made this donation possible through their participation in the “State of the Industry” survey at tradeshows this year.

FMC initially launched the “Be a Hero, Support a Hero” promotion in 2007 in conjunction with the introduction of Hero® insecticide. Hero provides faster knockdown and longer-lasting residual control of a broad spectrum of key pests in corn, soybeans, cotton, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, head lettuce, head and stem brassicas, succulent peas and beans, and pecans.
