| Q. |
Why should I try Spartan?
|
| A. |
Spartan's powerful new chemistry provides unmatched season-long control
of broadleaf weeds and sedges. Even the tough ones like morningglories,
nutsedges and pigweeds. And when used with the superior grass control
of Command¨ 3ME herbicide, it's a total weed control program unlike any
other. That means hand weeding is eliminated, saving you both time and
money.
To see how well Spartan stacks up against other popular tobacco
herbicides, see our section on Performance Data.

| Q. |
How does this product work?
|
| A. |
Spartan
herbicide contains the active ingredient sulfentrazone, a new class of
chemistry with excellent control of broadleaf weeds in tobacco. It
works as a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor, disrupting the
enzyme system necessary for the production of chlorophyll. Most weeds
die as they begin to emerge from the soil. The rest die immediately
thereafter, when they're exposed to the light. |
