Managed Maturity™

Get more control over cotton production than ever before.

If you’re looking for a new way to limit unproductive growth and maximize yield, you’ve come to the right place. FMC has developed a new cotton production practice called Managed Maturity™, designed to help you get the most out of your cotton crop.

Plant growth regulators may not perform well during late-season applications, and some cotton varieties may be susceptible to rank growth and resistant to cutout. This unproductive growth increases the risk of damage from insects and disease. Managed Maturity applications give you more control over these late-season variables. By applying a low rate of Aim® herbicide at optimum timing, around first cracked boll to 15% open bolls, you can eliminate the rank top growth and unproductive fruit. This practice only affects the immature and unusable growth on the plant. The result is improved lint quality, more efficient defoliation, an earlier harvest, and higher yields.

Benefits:

  • Eliminates the top canopy of unproductive vegetation in cotton plants
  • Removes late-season juvenile growth and immature bolls that don’t contribute to yield or quality
  • Provides a reduction in upper terminal growth and increased maturity
  • Facilitates better defoliation applications
  • Increases the earliness of cotton versus untreated checks
  • May reduce the insect population and prevent late-season sprays
Application Guides:
  • Aim may be applied as an aid to remove undesirable top growth and reduce unproductive terminal growth.
  • It may be used alone or as a tank mix with other cotton insecticides and herbicides.
  • Read all product labels and follow all directions and precautions when tank mixing with this product.
  • Apply Aim when cotton is actively growing and the plants have 0% to 20% open bolls; with applications at 15% open bolls being ideal.
  • When using the Cotman monitoring program, apply Aim at NAWF5, plus 450-650 heat units (NAWF5 + 450 HU’s is approximately the first cracked boll).
  • Avoid Managed Maturity treatments to fields, or areas of fields, that are stressed.
  • Apply Aim as a broadcast spray at 1/4 fl oz/A (0.004 lb ai/A) to 1/2 fl oz/A (0.008 lb ai/A), targeting 3/8 fl oz/A (0.006 lb ai/A) in spray volume adequate to obtain upper canopy coverage of the plant foliage.
  • Applications should be made using a minimum of 10 gallons of finished spray per acre for ground application and a minimum of five gallons per acre by air. Good upper canopy coverage is essential for optimum performance.
  • Use a quality crop oil concentrate (COC) at the recommended rate of 1% v/v.
When it comes to late-season cotton production, Managed Maturity applications using Aim herbicide truly gives you the control you need.
