Identification: The
seedling has one rounded and one heart-shaped cotyledon with short,
gland-tipped hairs along the margins. It can be recognized by its
purplish veins. This erect, freely branched annual herb, branches from
its base, growing to one meter tall.
Geographical Distribution: Lower
Mississippi Valley and from Texas to Arizona. It is a problem weed in
cultivated crops. It can also be found in ditches and waste areas.
