FMC Minute Returns With New Episodes in 2016/2017

Ultra-low volume, in-furrow application technology is first topic

PHILADELPHIA, September 14, 2016 – FMC Corporation will produce 12 new episodes of The Minute to help growers prepare for the 2017 season. The Minute series is designed to provide growers and retailers timely information about current agronomic issues impacting their businesses.

“Our host, Jake Turner, is back traveling the country, talking with industry experts and growers about best practices, new technologies and emerging trends,” said Aaron Locker, FMC marketing director. “Growers have told us how much they enjoy The Minute, and we are pleased to bring it back with new information and ideas to help them prosper.”

Jake is covering a lot of territory and topics on The Minute. Over the past three years, more than 30 episodes have been produced. Upcoming episodes will focus on tough corn diseases, new in-furrow technologies, high-production systems and herbicide stewardship. Current and past episodes of The Minute are available at http://www.fmcminute.com.

Just released, the first episode of 2016 offers advice on how to maximize yields when Jake interviews Dr. Fred Below, professor of plant physiology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. “If you look at the highest corn yield recorded in the U.S., it exceeds 500 bushels,” Below said. “The average yield is 180 bushels and that difference is known as the yield gap. Our research is designed to see how we can close that corn yield gap.”

“High yields are all about making sure the plant is never stressed,” Below added. “You have to start strong, grow strong and finish strong. But if you don’t start strong, you can never make up for lost time.” In this episode, Jake also visits with FMC Product Development Manager Dr. Lamar Buckelew about how new in-furrow products help growers in this endeavor for greater yields.

FMC Innovation Supports a Stronger Stand

As a leader in in-furrow technology, FMC has demonstrated its innovation through the success of LFR® Technology and now the 3RIVE 3D™ in-furrow application system, meeting growers’ demands for increased convenience and efficiency. The3RIVE 3D application system features low-volume application with a 130-gallon water tank, a 30-gallon product tank and a special manifold that delivers a three-dimensional expanding solution to the furrow. Using the patent-pending 3RIVE 3D technology, growers can plant and protect up to 500 acres on a single fill.

“Planting is one of the more stressful times of the year for growers,” said Rick Ekins, FMC portfolio manager. “The 3RIVE 3D application system offers growers the ability to easily and efficiently cover more ground in less time with fewer refills, saving water, fuel, labor and time. The 3RIVE 3D application system allows them to make the most of every good planting day.”
