FMC Begins 2014 “Stand & Be Heard Anthem Singing Contest"

2/25/2014

PHILADELPHIA – February 25, 2014 – March 1 officially marks the beginning of the third annual FMC “Stand & Be Heard Anthem Singing Contest.” FMC invites agricultural students to sing the National Anthem for scholarship prizes. Entries can be submitted online at www.FMCcrop.com/contest between March 1 and June 20.

“From new crop protection solutions to our continued support of scholarships for agricultural students, FMC is committed to investing in farming’s future,” said Matt Hancock, FMC Agricultural Solutions North America segment manager.

To participate, entrants must be a member of a national ag-related student organization, such as NAMA, FFA or 4-H, and aged 13 to 21 years. From July 7-21, an online voting process will determine the top 20 semi-finalists. These semi-finalists will then be judged by panelists, who will determine the final four.

In addition to scholarship prizes, the contest’s four finalists will also win a trip to Nashville to record their rendition of the National Anthem with a team of professionals. Tom Davis, director of music production at SeisMic Sound, and his team in Nashville work with the finalists during a memorable weekend experience. Their final performance and interview will be aired on RFD-TV in late August.

“The Nashville trip has been a highlight for our past finalists. The contestants get to record music in a professional studio with seasoned musicians who regularly perform with country music superstars,” said Hancock. “For many, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.”

After Nashville, a second online voting period from Aug. 18 through September 18 will determine the grand prize winner. Three of the four finalists will receive a $5,000 college scholarship; the grand prize winner will win a $10,000 scholarship.

FMC continues to invest in farming’s future by bringing innovative crop protection products to the industry, including herbicides, Anthem® and Anthem® ATZ. For more information on FMC crop protection products, please visit www.FMCcrop.com.
