ASA Representatives Featured on FMC Authority® Minute Episode

5/30/2013

PHILADELPHIA – May 30, 2013 – American Soybean Association (ASA) farmer-leaders talked with Authority® Minute Host Jake Turner about the grassroots efforts of ASA and current priorities and concerns facing soybean growers. The episode is available online now at www.AuthorityMinute.com.

Kurt Krueger, current treasurer and past president of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association, and Eric Maupin, current ASA board member, met with Turner at the 2013 Commodity Classic in Kissimmee, Fla., in early March. In the Authority Minute episode, they encouraged growers to become members of ASA and to utilize the organization as an industry resource to share input and concerns. During the discussion, hot topics included the need to feed the growing population and how production efficiencies of soybean growers will meet this demand. Infrastructure, soybeans as an export and sustainability were additional topics discussed.

ASA is the collective voice of more than 20,000 U.S. soybean producers. Its primary focus is policy development and implementation, starting with its members and culminating with an annual meeting of voting delegates. Commodity Classic is presented annually by ASA in partnership with the National Corn Growers Association, National Association of Wheat Growers and National Sorghum Producers.

Authority Minute by FMC features Host Jake Turner as he travels the country talking with authorities about best practices and weed control in soybeans. Previous episodes have highlighted topics such as weed resistance management, weed disaster survival and use rate versus length of control.
