FMC Announces Expanded Label for Beleaf® Insecticide

12/20/2012

PHILADELPHIA – FMC Corporation announces a label expansion for Beleaf® insecticide to include low-growing berries and strawberries. The newly expanded label provides Florida growers with a fast-acting insecticide to control yield-robbing pests.

“Beleaf offers Florida growers a flexible and fast-acting insecticide for their strawberry crop,” said Rick Ekins, FMC Agricultural Products North America product manager. “It’s soft on beneficial insects and extremely effective on piercing and sucking pests.”

Beleaf has an active ingredient that is different from other major classes of insecticides. Its translaminar activity controls pests on contact and ingestion, stopping insects from feeding within 30 minutes after application.

“With the registration of Beleaf for strawberries, FMC is able to offer a unique chemistry to growers that has not been available in the past,” said Ron Palumbo, FMC Agricultural Products North America technical markets specialist. “Beleaf offers a new tool in resistance management for western flower thrips.”
